What is the difference between belt mounting and ISOFIX?

Belt mounting uses the car’s seat belt to secure the car seat, while ISOFIX uses built-in metal anchor points for a quicker, more fool-proof installation.

Car seats can typically be installed in two ways: with the car’s seat belt or with an ISOFIX base. Both methods are safe when installed correctly — the difference is mainly in convenience and compatibility.

1) Belt Mounting (Seat Belt Installation)

  • Works in almost all cars, even older models without ISOFIX.

  • The seat is secured using the car’s 3-point seat belt.

  • Offers great flexibility but requires careful installation to ensure the seat is firmly tightened and routed correctly.

  • Perfect when you need to move the seat between multiple cars.

2) ISOFIX Mounting

  • Uses built-in metal anchor points in the car for a fast and secure click-in installation.

  • Minimises the risk of incorrect installation and is extremely quick.

  • Requires that your car has ISOFIX anchor points (most modern cars do).

  • Often combined with a support leg for extra stability.
